After two days of play at the WePlay! Forge of Masters Season 2 Finals in Kiev, Ukraine, four teams have found their way to the semi-finals.
Yesterday it was GODSENT and Tricked who punched their ticket to the WePlay! Forge of Masters Season 2 Finals playoffs, winning Groups A and B, respectively, to secure the top seed going into tomorrow’s semi-finals. GODSENT did so with victories over FORZE and GamerLegion, while Nicolai "HUNDEN" Petersen and company got the best of Heretics and Gambit Youngsters.
Following yesterday’s opening and winners’ matches, today it was the elimination and decider matches that ensued. The first to be played, the elimination matches, featured Winstrike and FORZE in Group A and Heretics and Copenhagen Flames in Group B. In the CIS derby it was FORZE who were able to take the cake with Dmitriy "facecrack" Alekseyev and Evgenii "FL1T" Lebedev both recording 1.31 Ratings in the three-map series, while Heretics made quick work of their Danish rivals, 2-0.
The first decider match pit GamerLegion and FORZE. The first map was the Swedes’ pick, and they were able to get ahead on the attacking side, 8-7. They lost the second pistol round after the switch, but were quick to get back on track to victory winning the forcebuy and six round streak on the way to a 16-12 victory. It was on Inferno that Fredrik "freddieb" Buö put the ribbon on an excellent personal series, which he ended with a 1.32 Rating and just short of 100 ADR, as he and his team closed map and match out 16-11.
The second decider match kicked off on Vertigo, Gambit Youngsters’ map pick, with the Russians taking the lead on the attacking side, 9-6. Dmitry "sh1ro" Sokolov concluded an impressive first map with 26 kills in 25 rounds, earning himself a 1.69 Rating in his team’s 16-9 victory. Heretics hit double digits on the CT side of their map pick, Inferno, going up 10-5 at the half despite a crazy start with both teams going back-and-forth for eight rounds. The youngsters then took the second pistol round, but they were unable to make a comeback as Heretics took control and closed it out 16-9. The Russians took off on Dust2, winning the half 10-5 after a flying start to bag the map 16-9 and secure a berth in the playoffs.
The semi-final match-ups are:
Tricked vs.
GamerLegion
GODSENT vs.
