Warzone players think the Season 3 promo secretly hides one of many fan-favorite SMGs from past Call of Duty installments.

With a week to go before launch, Call of Duty developers have detailed exactly what’s coming to Warzone Season 3. The new update will drop players back onto Verdansk, complete with several gameplay changes, QoL adjustments, and tweaks to omnimovement.

Longtime players can also anticipate the return of a few fan-favorite weapons, with the Kilo 141 and CR-56 AMAX Assault Rifles both slated to appear.

However, in taking a closer look at promotional images, some fans noticed one weapon that Activision has yet to formally announce as a new addition for the next season.

Warzone players spot Cold War SMG in Season 3 promo

Eagle-eyed Call of Duty faithful spied an unspecified SMG when pursuing promo images on the franchise’s official website.

As noted in the Black Ops 6 subreddit, the Domino Operator can be seen wielding an SMG in one image, though much of the weapon is obscured by her helmet.

Based on the minimal visibility, the original poster assumes the SMG is either the Spectre M4 from Black Ops 1 or the Kiparis from the Cold War entry.

I was looking at pictures on the CoD website and noticed this picture of the two new operators coming in Season 3 and noticed that Domino (Left) is holding what looks like an SMG that I’ve personally never seen? Possibly a new SMG coming mid season?!

Others in the comment section think the weapon’s appearance bears a lot more in common with the OTS 9, a rapid-firing SMG that entered the fray alongside Black Ops: Cold War’s Season 4 Reloaded update in 2021.

Call of Duty leaker TheGhostofHope shared the same belief on their Twitter/X page, yet several people chimed in to say they think it’s actually the aforementioned Spectre M4 SMG.

Either way, both the OTS 9 and Kiparis ruled the SMG meta at one point or another. As such, it stands to reason that both could shake things up again if either one of them were to make their grand return in Warzone Season 3.
